COMING UP ON THE SHOW... The Travails of a News Trainee

It’s been a long journey from opening that blank word document to furiously typing away to despondently editing to re-reading and re-writing.
Then there was the part where you draft cover letters, query letters, submission letters and ‘I got your email id from this person’ letters.
Then there was the stare at your inbox miserably, refresh, and then some more, log out for a minute and then jump back to check if there is any email stage.
Then there was the rejection after rejection, possible acceptance but no sorry it’s a rejection instead, then the stay hanging there we will/might/may not contact you after a six weeks to a year stage.
And finally after what seemed like a year of literary labour pains, there it was- the letter from Srishti Publishers who were more than happy to bring out the book and then there was the time when you wonder if signing the contract is enough.
You hear the what-if's buzzing round and round your head -
'What-if the publisher changes his mind?'
'What-if the reader doesn't want to read the book?'
'What-if the book wasn't good enough?
There are times when you feel like reaching out and swatting these imaginary anxiety bugs and squashing them and then there are times when you'd rather just lie in a catatonic state letting the anxiety bugs drain you of all energy as you watch the moments tick away, oh, so slowly...
And then there is the day when you hear that your book is now in online book stores, waiting to be pre-ordered.
And the day your friends ping you telling you that they've picked up the book and some telling you that they've raced through the first few chapters.
And then there's the day when you can post a preview for the book for those who would like to get their hands on it. Like this  video

And then there's the day when you can share the  link to the store where they can order their copies of the book.
So here's presenting 'COMING UP ON THE SHOW...The Travails of a News Trainee'
It's for anyone who ever wanted to be a part of the Indian Broadcast News Industry or is interested in what happens behind the scenes
Please do pick it up and feel free to mail me with your bouquets, brickbats or words ;D
I look forward to hearing from you all!
